Strengthen Persecuted Believers

Christian leaders in Sudan seem to be the latest target for violence by militants.
“Rising violence in Sudan has seen two church leaders and six others killed in recent attacks on faith communities,” Open Doors UK reports.
One Episcopalian pastor was shot by extremists.
In a separate assault, a Catholic priest was killed. He knew of the danger but chose to stay and serve. Open Doors says:
“It is reported that this was a ‘revenge attack,’ after Father Youhanna alert[ed] the authorities to the theft of medicines that were being kept for the community in the church. Two of his security guards were also shot and one later died because of his injuries. Father Youhanna had chosen to remain with his parish, in the face of escalating dangers.”
Some have been murdered, others kidnapped. Several worshippers and other church leaders have been forcibly taken. Although some have been released by now ... many have not.
