Six Days Without Food

Love Them, Encourage Them, Uplift Them

Boko Haram militants kidnapped Murna Yusuf in July 2021 after discovering her Bible during a bus search in northeastern Nigeria.

Christianity Today reports her harrowing story ...

Refusing to deny her faith, she endured five weeks of captivity with two other Christian women before their daring escape through militant-guarded forests. They survived six days without food before reaching safety.

But tragically, Murna’s ordeal didn’t end there ...

  • Four years later, she still battles panic attacks, insomnia, and flashbacks.
  • In addition, fellow community members rejected and mocked her upon her return — deepening her already painful suffering. Like hundreds of other survivors, she faces crushing stigma from those who view escaped victims as “tainted” or radicalized.

While persecution threatens their bodies, the lack of trauma care and community rejection devastates their spirits.

But YOU can put people in their path who will encourage them, not shame them. Love them, not reject them.

LRI’s mission partners exist to reach women and others like Murna with counseling and support.

Faithful believers who refuse to deny Christ now ask for compassion and practical help for healing. Please stand with Liberty Relief International today to send it. Offer people enduring pain and depression the hope and help they need.

Thank you in advance!

In His service,
Mat Staver
