Nigerian Pastor Shot, Church Members Abducted

Send the Relief They Desperately Need

I long for the day when Nigeria is free from news of violent persecution.

“After suspected Islamic Fulani extremists stormed into Elyon Paradise Ministry Church in Delta state, Nigeria,” late last month, reports International Christian Concern, “they shot and injured Pastor Divine Omodia and kidnapped six church members. Omodia is receiving urgent medical attention in a local hospital, where medical staff are striving to stabilize his condition.”

Adding to the anxiety, Pastor Steve Victor Onuchukwu shared that since the incident, “the kidnappers have not contacted the church for ransom.”

Anxiety, fear, violence, uncertainty … believers in Nigeria experience these daily because of their faith in Jesus.

It’s hard to fathom what persecuted Christians endure every day. Nigeria is No. 7 on the 2025 World Watch List from Open Doors. Islamist oppression is a constant reality.

But you can stand with them, strengthen them, encourage them …

Through your generous and compassionate gift to Liberty Relief International today.

Your gift to LRI will help our dedicated on-the-ground, Christ-centered partners who provide practical relief to the hurting and tangible hope to believers suffering the crushing weight of persecution

And as you give, please also keep the victims of this abduction, their families, the injured pastor, and Nigeria as a nation in your prayers.

Thank you, from my heart, for your compassion for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

In His Service,

Mat Staver
