Being accused of a crime you didn’t commit is a tragedy …
Facing an angry mob in addition to such accusations makes things much worse.
As Mission Network News (MNN) just reported:
“The United Nations Human Rights Committee last month urged Pakistan to amend or repeal the country’s blasphemy laws. The committee noted an increase in false blasphemy accusations in Pakistan, with dire consequences.”
This is something LRI has been sharing with you for years. Too many Christians are accused of “blasphemy” in countries like Pakistan and end up paying a tragically high cost — even when these accusations are false. Believers are often at risk of violent attack by angry mobs of Muslims.
One ministry representative who spoke to MNN and knows intimately what believers in Pakistan face said:
“The problem is not really a blasphemy law or the Constitution of Pakistan. The problem is that the people of Pakistan, the Muslims of Pakistan, they have become extremists. … Life for a Christian in Pakistan is walking-on-a-sword situation or sitting-on-the-gun-powder situation.... You never know when a mob or an individual is just simply [going to] approach you and try to kill you or burn down your house or persecute you for any reason.”
Can I count on you, to stand with Liberty Relief International as we stand, together, with persecuted brothers and sisters?
Through your compassion, our Christ-centered partners on the ground in this region and many others will also offer support like:
Please give generously today to feed the hungry, give hope to the hopeless, and keep those who face false legal accusations and wrongful imprisonment focused on Jesus — and the hope we have in Him — even in the darkest times.
Thank you for being a lifeline to the persecuted!
In His service,
