The headlines I read today about Hurricane Helene’s devastation are heartbreaking ...

• “Hope fades in search for flooding disaster survivors.”

• “A complicated relief effort unfolds in North Carolina in the face of tough terrain, collapsed communications and a ticking clock.”

• “Search crews with cadaver dogs wade through muck of communities ‘wiped off the map’ by Helene.”

• “Helene becomes deadliest mainland hurricane since Katrina.”

Certainly you’ve seen many like these.

The widespread catastrophic damage this storm left in its wake is almost impossible to imagine.

• Millions are still without power.

• Search-and-rescue crews are thwarted in their efforts due to the sheer destruction of communities, roads, and terrain.

• Survivors are trying to cope with the absolute loss.

• Remote areas are some of the hardest hit — many are still stranded after roads were washed out and trees were knocked down.

Fellow Americans need your help.
