Pastor Harassed and Harmed by Government Mob

Christian Brothers and Sisters Need Aid

A “violent and anarchic” seizure of a pastor from his church has left local believers in one Indonesian town “hurt, shocked, [and feeling] like stepchildren,” according to a Morning Star News report.

Government officials “dragged a pastor from his worship site and sealed the shop where his church met.”

“I was harassed and dragged by a mob that I estimated was about 50 people,” Pastor Herri remarked. Bruised and shaken up — but, thankfully, now healing — Pastor Herri was also threatened with prison time.

“Pastor Herri said there has been no solution to the problem” since local officials say “the sealing of the church was necessary to secure local government land.”

Such activity happens daily in countries where Jesus is not welcome by government leaders.

  • Congregations are disrupted.

  • Pastors are wrongfully imprisoned.

  • And churches are attacked, raided, looted, or burned to ashes.

All because Islamists want to eradicate Christ’s name — by any means necessary.

I trust you’ll pray along with me that the Lord will protect Pastor Herri, strengthen his family, and comfort his congregation.

And I ask you today to give generously to enable our Christ-centered partners on the ground to provide the spiritual assistance and tangible help and hope needed in Indonesia and beyond.

Your generous, tax-deductible donation — of whatever amount God leads you to make — will send urgently needed aid to men, women, and children who are at high risk of violence for their faith.

Your partnership will also provide trauma counseling, housing, job training, and other practical needs … as well as Bibles, discipleship materials, and spiritual support for those who are oppressed, driven out of their homes, or threatened by their own government — like Pastor Herri and his church.

But I urge you: Please respond today. Stand with Liberty Relief International and see the hurting and hopeless around the world through God’s eyes.

Thank you for sharing your blessings to provide for the needs of others, in Christ’s name.

In His service,

Mat Staver
