Attacks on Churches Up Seven-Fold

Offer Christ’s Compassion to Persecuted

Men, Women, and Children

I came across some alarming and disheartening persecution news today and wanted to share it with you ...

According to Open Doors:

  • Algeria has gone up four places on this year’s World Watch List (to No. 15), with a disturbing increase in persecution. Previously, there were 47 Protestant churches in the country. Now only four remain open, and they are under intense pressure.

  • The number of attacks on churches and Christian-run schools, hospitals, and cemeteries exploded in 2023, up seven-fold compared to the previous year.

  • Thirteen Christians a day were killed for their faith in 2023, on average.

  • Nigeria remains the deadliest place to follow Jesus ... 82% of the killings happened there.

I am grateful you see persecuted brothers and sisters as more than “numbers” or “statistics.”

Every one of 365 million people facing Christian persecution is a living, breathing Christ-follower in dire need … men, women, and children from nations all over the globe targeted, harassed, imprisoned, attacked — and worse — for their faith.

So, I come to you today, humbly and boldly:

Please consider reaching out in compassion to persecuted Christians with a generous gift to Liberty Relief International.

Your donation will send practical humanitarian relief — emergency food, water, shelter, and safety — to believers in need of immediate support and those who have been displaced by civil war, political unrest, and extremist violence.

You’ll also help our Christ-centered partners on the ground offer trauma counseling, literacy and job training, assistance in rebuilding churches and homes that have been attacked or destroyed ... plus Bibles, discipleship training, faith-based materials, spiritual encouragement, and more.

Please don’t let any of these brothers and sisters in Christ just be “numbers.”

Thank you in advance for seeing them with Jesus’ eyes and reaching out with His compassion today.

In His service,

Mat Staver
