A tragic series of events, but true — and all too common in Islamist nations.
According to Morning Star News:
“Mohammad Abdul, 40, survived a knife attack by his Muslim relatives on the outskirts of Kismayo, a port city in southern Somalia’s Lower Juba region … after converting to Christianity.”
The victim was forced to move to another city for his own safety.
He had been receiving threatening text messages after family members learned of his conversion:
“We are now aware that every evening you are praying in the name of Issa [Jesus] as well as reading a corrupted book and not reading the Quran, the holy book sent to Muhammad from Allah,” read one of the text messages, according to [his] pastor. “If you do not stop this bad way of conducting religious activities, then you risk your life.”
In Somalia — No. 2 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List — such harassment and physical violence are commonplace.
Small country, significant oppression.
Yet as you stand with Liberty Relief International with a generous gift today, you’ll support fellow Christians like Mohammad and others by helping local, on-the-ground partners meet their most urgent needs ... while providing tangible, desperately needed hope through trauma counseling, spiritual and emotional assistance, and much more.
“The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,” Psalm 9:9 says, “a stronghold in times of trouble.”
Your generous support right now will remind our persecuted family of the hope they have in Jesus ... and your Christ-like compassion.
Please be as generous as you can today — for their sake.
You have my deep and heartfelt gratitude for supporting LRI’s efforts for the persecuted.
In His service,
Mat Staver
