Algeria — No. 15 on Open Doors’ World Watch List — does not often make your newsfeed, but brothers and sisters there need our prayerful support, nonetheless.
Christians living in this North African nation have suffered under “a disturbing increase in persecution,” reports Open Doors. “Previously, there were 47 Protestant churches in the country. Now only four remain open, and they are under intense pressure.”
One Christian-in-secret believer says:
“The biggest challenge is that I have to live with a dual identity, which means Christian at home and Muslim outside.”
Whether it’s Islamic or clan oppression or ethnic or religious hostility, Christ-followers in Algeria “face pressure — from both the government and their surrounding communities — to renounce their faith in Jesus and return to Islam,” according to Open Doors.
It’s a sad reality — for people living in Algeria and MANY other countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and elsewhere.
But reach out to persecuted Christians and their needs today — through your generous donation to Liberty Relief International — and you’ll shine a light of hope and help to ease their daily suffering.
Your gift will enable our caring Christ-centered partners — serving in dangerous nations around the world — to respond quickly and compassionately to persecuted believers with much-needed physical and spiritual support.
You’ll send humanitarian aid, help frontline workers offer trauma counseling, give hope in Jesus’ name, provide Bibles and discipleship materials to waiting believers … and much more.
Thank you for putting the needs of persecuted Christians in perspective and giving generously today for their sake.
I am grateful to God for you.
In His Service,
Mat Staver
