Persecution At Its Worst: Son Martyrs His Own Mother

Be a Lifeline to the Persecuted Today

“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved” (Mark 13:12-13).

It might be unbelievable if Jesus hadn’t prophesied it.

But friend, these are the heartbreaking times in which we live.

A mother named Miremba* gave her life to Jesus last year after hearing the Gospel at church. When her son found out, he returned home to Uganda (after four years of working in Saudi Arabia) to confront her.

Miremba recalled: “As I was praying with my eyes closed, my son called me, saying, ‘Mum, Mum, you are becoming a disgrace to the family and the religion of Allah.’ I kept quiet. He pushed me hard to the wall, and I fell down. Then he took a blunt object and hit me at the head. I lost … consciousness, only to find myself in this hospital bed.”

The injuries Miremba’s son inflicted on her were so severe that she succumbed to them in the hospital. A terrible tragedy.

Jesus foretold the persecution you and I read about in countries like Uganda, Nigeria, Pakistan, and others.

And He urges us to comfort those who are suffering for His sake.

Your tax-deductible gift today will offer hope to the persecuted … emotional and spiritual support to believers and their families suffering harsh treatment … provide emergency food, water, safety, and shelter to those fleeing violence … and more.

Your generosity also allows our Christ-centered partners in hostile places to minister to Christians targeted for their faith with Bibles, discipleship materials, and other spiritual resources.

Thank you for your partnership in this urgently needed work.

Please pray Miremba’s son turns from Islam and finds healing and forgiveness in Jesus.
