A young Egyptian man named Baher felt “shunned, overlooked, and despised.”
Why?
Mainly, because he’s a Christ-follower.
“Christians in my village have suffered from persecution for years and years,” he told one of LRI’s ministry partners. “Christians here suffer humiliation and oppression.”
Open Doors listed Egypt as No. 35 on its 2023 World Watch List, explaining: “The victims of persecution have no legal rights, and they live in a climate of fear. Across Egypt and Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and North Africa, this is a common story. Christians can be victims of violent attacks — but they can also be ground down by everyday discrimination.”
But thankfully, friends like you know about believers like Baher — and can make sure they know they’re far from forgotten in this world.
Through your compassionate generosity, on-the-ground teams began building a relationship with Baher and his family — encouraging him with the truths of God’s Word, speaking love into his life, and meeting practical needs … which lifted the heavy burdens he’d been carrying for so long.
“I have seen God’s practical love through your love, care, and presence,” he told our ministry partner. “When I was searching for my own solutions, God was preparing and making a way to reach out to me through your ministry team.”
Thank you!
In countries like Egypt, Nigeria, Sudan, and the Congo and into places like Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, and beyond, your support is filling hearts with hope.
Life for our persecuted brothers and sisters is often terrifying and dangerous.
Thank you for standing with LRI for Baher’s sake and countless more like him.
I am deeply grateful for your Christ-like compassion!
