These Numbers Are Staggering

Comfort the Persecuted … Meet Their Needs!

The most recent numbers out of Nigeria are staggering …

According to Open Doors:

“More than 5,000 Nigerian believers were killed for their faith over the course of 12 months. That’s more than 13 Christians killed on average every day. That’s more than one believer killed every hour.”

“And it’s not just killings,” Open Doors continues. “During the same period, more than 4,700 Christians in Nigeria were also abducted because they follow Jesus, and at least 1,000 believers were raped, sexually assaulted or sexually harassed for their faith. Christians were forced to flee and go into hiding — more than 10,000 in Nigeria during this reporting period. And more than 10,000 followers of Jesus were physically or mentally abused for their faith.”

This is a reality that should compel Christ-followers like you and me to act.

I invite you to support Liberty Relief International today and empower our ministry partners to comfort the persecuted and meet their most urgent needs in Jesus’ name.

Nigeria (No. 6 on the Open Doors 2023 World Watch List) is one of the most violent places on earth for believers …

But much of North and Central Africa is home to targeted attacks on Christians — and their communities and homes.

  • In Sudan, where war and civil unrest have plunged the nation into chaos for weeks, “The most vulnerable Christians are those who have converted from Islam — this was once punishable by death,” reports Open Doors. Sudan is No. 10 on the list.

  • In Libya (No. 5), “Christians who publicly express their faith and try to share the gospel with others are likely to face arrest or retribution from extremist groups.”

  • In Eritrea (No. 4), “Over the years, government security forces have conducted hundreds of house-to-house raids to catch other Christians. There are thought to be 1,000 Christians indefinitely detained in Eritrean prisons, not officially charged with anything.”

It’s heartbreaking to think religious freedom is nonexistent in so many parts of the world.

But this is why LRI is committed to being a conduit of Christ’s compassion and your generosity to the hurting.

When you partner with us, your giving helps Christian men, women, and children who have been threatened, attacked, forced out of their homes or communities, imprisoned, or worse for their faith.

  1. You minister to their physical needs — feeding them, clothing them, giving them water and shelter and safety.

  2. You intervene — through loving, Christ-centered partners on the ground — offering spiritual and emotional encouragement in the name of the One who heals the broken.

  3. You send Bibles and gospel-driven discipleship materials to strengthen believers in their faith and root God’s Word in their hearts.

I am grateful for your heart for the persecuted church!

Thank you for standing with our brothers and sisters through LRI’s outreach.
