When one of LRI’s on-the-scene partners was delivering meals to Hurricane Ian survivors in a Florida neighborhood where debris and rubble were visible as far as the eye could see …
He met a woman who was “outside sorting through her grandmother’s things” right before a collection truck came and took the pile.
“We watched helplessly as the truck scooped their life away,” he recalls.
The woman could do nothing but stand there and sob.
But the compassionate man—committed to feeding both her body AND her soul—took the opportunity to hug her, pray with her and comfort her.
Yes, people still need food, water, clothing and other necessities in the wake of this terrible storm’s wrath.
But they also need spiritual and emotional encouragement to help them cope with the loss and devastation in which they are immersed. Ian was such a huge storm that Floridians will be dealing with its effects for some time to come.
So many have lost so much. If you have seen recent news feeds, you can imagine how overwhelming it still must feel for people in the hardest-hit communities.
Liberty Relief International is providing support through our Christ-centered partners on the ground in Southwest Florida.
Our twin goals are to (1) deliver tangible humanitarian relief and (2) provide much-needed Christian love and comfort in this trying time.
Our partners—serving as meal providers, emergency aid distributors and shoulders to cry on—are working to minister to victims and be the hands and feet of Jesus to those most impacted by this historic storm.
Thank you, and may God bless you for your compassion.
