Water baptism may be a common sacrament here in America and in churches like yours …
But getting baptized in nations hostile to the Gospel comes with great risk.
One of LRI’s faithful partners in the field recently wrote about what it can be like for Christians who are committed to follow in Christ’s footsteps:
“In Bangladesh, if baptisms are discovered, it could mean harsh and torturous persecution from family, locals and Islamic extremist groups. Yet … many courageous men and women [march] secretly to the water and declared ‘Jesus is Lord.’”
“Being a Christian in Syria can equate to harassment, beatings and isolation. But God is still on the move”—through your partnership and prayers! Some 16 men and women recently chose to be baptized at a “hidden retreat [in] the mountains of neighboring Lebanon.”
“Even through a military coup, hundreds keep coming to Christ in Myanmar. … While threat of death looms, dozens upon dozens continue to accept Jesus as their Savior and follow His command of baptism behind closed doors.”
What a BEAUTIFUL experience it must be to witness such obedience!
As you rejoice with me in this news, I urge you to support our efforts to minister to the persecuted in hostile nations overseas.
Your compassionate generosity will help reveal the promise of salvation and the hope of eternity in the hearts of those searching for truth …
You’ll be responding in love to those uprooted and forced from their homes because of their faith—and those kidnapped, discriminated against, imprisoned, tortured, raped and worse …
You will be a lifeline to those who need physical aid like emergency food, water and medical assistance …
You will help provide literacy and job training, restorative help to rebuild churches and homes, Bibles, discipleship materials, trauma counseling and much more.
Thank you in advance for responding to Christians who risk everything for their faith.
And thank you for strengthening them in that faith.
