Persecution comes in many forms … from all levels of society … from all kinds of people …
But it’s especially harsh when your own spouse is your chief persecutor.
Irina* is a Christian living in Kyrgyzstan, a small, landlocked nation bordered on the east by China and by other Islam republics on the north, west and south that was part of the Soviet Union until its dissolution in 1991. Kyrgyz and Russian are its co-official languages. The nation is 90% Islamic and just 8% Christian. As in Afghanistan, persecution there can be severe.
Irina’s husband found out about her faith in Christ and recently demanded she stop reading her Bible. He also told her to stop attending the house church of which she is part.
His threats escalated, then recently turned violent when he hit her.
Desperate and afraid, Irina ran away with her 5-year-old son—but her other three children remain at home.
Today, Irina is asking for YOUR prayers—and YOUR help: “I don't want to divorce him. I pray that he will be a believer in Jesus Christ. Now I can’t go home, and I don’t know where to live.”
God calls us to help persecuted family members in their time of need. I’m grateful for your compassionate and generous heart toward their suffering.
Irina—a precious sister in Christ—is one who needs your prayers and support today.
Stand with Liberty Relief International right now to let her and many others like her know they don’t suffer alone.
