According to Open Doors:

• In highly oppressive countries like Afghanistan (#2 on the 2021 World Watch List), converts to Christianity face two horrific options: “flee the country or risk being killed.”

• In Libya (#4), “there’s no freedom of speech, no freedom of religion and very limited possibility of public church life.”

• Militants “often murder Christians or destroy their property and means of livelihood” in Nigeria (#9).

• In Kazakhstan (#41—and a nation reeling under political unrest), “Legislation dating back to September 2011 restricts the ability to worship freely. Kazakhstan’s government has steadily increased its control over religious expression in the country, which means increased surveillance, raids on church meetings, and arrests.”

It is no exaggeration to say that a Christian holocaust is taking place worldwide, and we must do what we can to bring Christ’s compassion to those suffering through it.
