Give Hope for Tomorrow

Growing up in a Central Asian Muslim household, Amiel* took a step of real courage and faith when he accepted Christ as Savior.
He was careful around his parents after this decision—they had expected all along for Amiel to be as devoted to Islam as they were. So he struggled for a long time with how to “announce” his change of heart.
But then:
One day as I was chatting with my friends, my parents saw a Christian video we were watching, so I told them I had become a Christian. When my parents heard this, they were stunned and began to scold me. They took away my official documents, so that I would be completely under their control.
My uncle threatened to hang me in the barn. One day I was home, and he was in the field mowing the grass. When he found out that I was home, he came in with a whip in his hand and began to hit me on the head. ...
My parents just stood by. And my uncle, scolding me, said: “It would be better if you had become a murderer than a Christian.” He tried to persuade me by calling Christians liars.
Amiel survived—thank the Lord—and was able to escape soon after. He says he’s safe, “for now,” but that he’s hoping to leave the country “to serve God in another place.”
What faith! What perseverance! What bravery!
CHOOSING Christ in the face of abuse and persecution—and from his own family, no less.
Liberty Relief International’s Christ-centered partners, empowered by your compassionate support, are on the ground ministering to believers just like Amiel … to encourage, love and support them in their difficult journeys as new Christians.
It goes without saying: Life for our persecuted brothers and sisters is often terrifying and dangerous.
Please join me in praying for Amiel today … for his physical, spiritual and emotional well-being … that God would continue to be his Source of strength and safety.
Thank you for standing with LRI for Amiel’s sake and countless thousands more like him. I am deeply grateful.
