Emergency Aid to Persecuted Believers

Not long ago, I received a report marked "Urgent" from one of LRI's ministry partners.
It's so critical that I feel compelled to share it with you. Here is a brief excerpt:
In the past, we've asked for prayer for Christians in the city of Qamishli, in northern Syria. Christians there have endured so much--they were surrounded by ISIS during the Syrian Civil War, and they've endured regular unrest thanks to insurgent groups and during the Turkish invasion in the fall of 2019.
And now, Christians there have asked for urgent prayer around a new crisis. [Just recently], fighting broke out less than a mile from the neighborhood where most Christians in Qamishli live. One of our sources from Qamishli reports: "The war between Kurdish militia and the National Defense Forces [linked to the Syrian government] began last night and is still going on. Kurdish militia want to take control of the al-Tai neighborhood using heavy weapons and artillery. We haven't slept since yesterday, but we're fine. We are about 1 kilometer [a little more than half a mile] from the war site."
He asks Christian brothers and sisters worldwide, “Please pray for us.”
Prayer is key, as you know. I encourage you to lift this crisis to the Lord.
But I think, given the urgent situation our Syrian brothers and sisters find themselves in as violence intensifies, you and I can pray and go one step further:
Provide the tangible, practical love of Christ to those caught in the crossfire!
You’ll give hope to the hurting, strengthen families in search of peace and let them know a far-away friend is willing to share their burdens, just as Jesus does.
Please be compassionate on their behalf today.
Ask the Lord to intervene and to multiply your generosity in the lives of believers in our persecuted family—in Syria, elsewhere in the Middle East, Central and South Asia, North Africa and other flashpoints throughout the world.
God bless you.
