It's estimated that 25 villages or more have been cleared out in 2020 as military operations along the Turkey-Iraq border have intensified.
Several of these towns were mostly occupied by Christians ... but are now deserted because of fighting between the Turkish government and militants with the terrorist organization PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party).
"The shelling has damaged properties, houses and set fields ablaze, while the Christians have escaped their homes once again," Father Emanuel Youkhana told Catholic News Service.Another priest in the region, Father Samir Yousef, "said the areas where he serves 'have been bombed with greater intensity'" as of late, Catholic News Service reports. It's hard for many Americans to imagine the outright violence taking place in this volatile region of the world. It's difficult to fully understand the fear and panic that so many Christians around the world experience. If you can put yourself in their shoes ... if you can try to relate to their plight ...The loss of family members, homes, possessions ... some have lost EVERYTHING. Lives and careers and families — entire towns! — have been uprooted.Where would you turn?I am grateful you can empathize — I know you have compassion for the hurting and displaced. Please reach out to the strangers, orphans and widows today who have indeed lost everything.Your gift to Liberty Relief International will help our local partners meet the burgeoning needs of Christians along the Turkey-Iraq border and elsewhere — places where bombs and air raids are a daily reality — and provide physical and spiritual assistance in Christ's name.Your generosity will provide aid like:
- Tangible hope that saves lives — food, water and medical care
- Safety and shelter
- Trauma counseling
- Encouragement for those who feel alone
- And more.

As Philippians 2:3-4 says: "...value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others."
Thank you for making this a priority this Christmas season!
