News Straight From Algeria

Dec 8, 2020

I received a frontline prayer request from partners serving in Algeria recently...

...please give me just a few moments to relay the details:

Believers in the north African country are asking for your prayers that "the government will cease discrimination in reopening places of worship closed due to COVID19."

All churches there have been closed since March, but over the summer — when they gradually began to reopen — mosques were given priority, NOT Christian houses of worship.

In fact, for the past few years, Protestant churches have been the target of systematic discrimination by Algerian authorities ... showing that the government "is not willing to consider the Christian citizens equal to the Muslim population," our partner says.

So please ... use the prayer prompts I've listed below to pray for our brothers and sisters in Algeria — the nation listed at the #17 spot on Open Doors' 2020 World Watch List.

Extreme Islamic groups and their oppressive tactics play a major part in the government's restrictions on Christians on their freedom.

But please also take another step forward for persecuted Christians...

...and give a generous gift to Liberty Relief International today.

You'll send emergency humanitarian aid, help frontline workers offer trauma counseling, give hope in Jesus' name, provide Bibles, discipleship materials and other resources to waiting believers ... and much more.

Thank you for putting the needs of persecuted Christians in perspective Christians in perspective and giving generously today for their sake...

And thank you for praying over these needs as soon as you have the opportunity:

  • That pastors, church leadership and all believers in Algeria will feel the Holy Spirit's presence and His peace in dealing with such discrimination.
  • That God would protect and keep them safe.
  • That all churches will be permitted to reopen soon.
  • That the government will allow Christians to worship freely without threat or harassment.
  • That those responsible for the closure order will come to know the Truth and accept Christ's forgiveness.
