“Displaced” is such a nice, sanitary word, isn’t it?
It almost makes reading updates like the latest from UNICEF: “70,000 children have been displaced in Syria this week,” seem a little less . . . traumatic.
“Displaced” is just a politically correct, socially sterile way of saying that men, women, children, the elderly and infirm have been violently forced out of their homes, their jobs, their schools and their lives—with no place to return and nowhere to go.
It doesn’t convey the fear and hunger those 70,000 innocent boys and girls are enduring. It doesn’t describe the lack of shelter, clean water or any of the most basic comforts you and I take for granted each day.
“Displaced” doesn’t tell the backstory of the mom who had to try and have the presence of mind to pack for an unknown destination for an unknown duration—as bombs fell from fighter planes near her home.
It doesn’t tell of the group of families that had to flee in the night because military tanks were approaching the abandoned building in which they had taken refuge.
There’s nothing good about being displaced. As a friend of Liberty Relief International, I hope we can count on your help as we stand with these hurting people through prayer and humanitarian relief.
Our Christ-centered partners on the ground in Syria and surrounding countries are doing everything they can to try to alleviate the suffering of this wave of refugees fleeing the invasion from the north, but the need is far outpacing the supply.
Every gift you share helps provide emergency relief boxes containing enough food to sustain a family that has been “displaced” by this invasion, as well clean water, warm blankets and other necessities.
Please share a tax-deductible gift today of 50, 100, 200, 500 dollars or more to help meet this need. We also want to make sure that fellow believers caught up in this exodus know that they are NOT FORGOTTEN!
Please continue to pray for this escalating situation and please share these updates with your family, friends and church to raise awareness of this need. Thank you in advance for standing with LRI to pray for and care for the situation in Syria and for persecuted believers all over the world!
God bless you,
