Worldwide Persecution Revealed at our Nation's Capital

Jul 16, 2019

Earlier this week, Faith & Liberty, a part of the Liberty Counsel family of ministries which is located across the street from the U.S. Supreme Court, hosted scores of delegates from America and around the world for a breakfast kick-off of the U.S. State Department's Ministerial Summit to Advance Religious Liberty. Faith & Liberty's Vice-President, Peggy Nienaber, and Lead Missionary Rev. Gregory Cox welcomed leaders from Tibet, Nigeria, Sweden, Azerbaijan, and Israel, just to name a few of the countries represented.

The distinguished panel of Nigerian civic and religious leaders shared first-hand accounts of the religious persecution taking place in their country. A young man from the delegation, named “Ike,” shared his own heartbreaking story as a survivor of a murderous terrorist attack. Their stories were heartbreaking, and I plan to share more of what they told us very soon.

The greatest threats to Christians in Nigeria are the almost daily attacks by Muslim Fulani herdsmen. The majority of farmland in Nigeria is owned by Christian farmers. The herdsmen kill the Christian farmers and take over their lands in order to feed their cattle. Stories of murder, arson, maiming with machetes, rape and worse follow these terrorists from farm to farm. Thousands of Christians have fled their lands and now live in dreadful conditions in makeshift refugee camps while the government of Nigeria turns a blind eye to their plight. As you know, the rising tide of the persecution of people of faith is literally being felt around the globe.

Persecuted Christians around the world need to know that the Body of Christ cares and takes action “as if we were the ones suffering.”

You can take action by...

#1 PRAYING for Christians who are suffering violent persecution and imprisonment for their faith in Jesus.

#2 GIVING to send urgently needed aid to our Christ-centered partners in the field who are working with Christians and others at constant risk from violence, torture, false imprisonment, kidnapping, rape or even death.

#3 SHARING these updates with your family, friends and church to raise awareness of this need. You can also follow Liberty Relief International on Facebook for updates.

When you partner with Liberty Relief International, your compassionate gifts help provide for immediate humanitarian needs like emergency food, water, shelter and safety for believers who have fled deadly violence. In what the UN calls Africa’s “unprecedented” humanitarian emergency, families across Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Mali are fleeing their homes as Christians are being targeted and gunned down at home and at church. Recent reports state over 4 million people are currently displaced in that region, and many face critical food insecurity and acute malnutrition is threatening the lives of close to 400,000 children.

In many countries, even more can be done. Our Christ-centered partners in the field in can also provide trauma counseling, literacy training, and job training; restoration assistance to rebuild churches and homes that have been destroyed; and provide Bibles, Bible study materials, and discipleship training for new believers.

You can truly put “feet to your faith” when you partner with LRI to stand with our brothers and sisters who have been targeted for annihilation and endured so much.

Will you give a secure, tax-deductible gift online of 50, 100, 500 dollars or more today? Your gift will enable us to send urgently needed aid to our Christ-centered partners in the field who are working with believers and others at constant risk from violence, torture, false imprisonment, kidnapping, rape or even death.

Your prayers and donations are truly a lifeline for our persecuted family all over the world! Thank you in advance for your compassion and generosity.

God bless you,
