Will You Help a Christian in Hiding?

May 22, 2019

"No one dares to sleep in his house because of fear of being killed. It's very hard for us. We need your prayers."

That is the heartbreaking situation for Christians in Burkina Faso, where deadly attacks have escalated 7,000% since last year. Schools and churches are closing as families flee or go into hiding. Our brothers and sisters urgently need our prayers and our help! Please respond today. -Mat

Christians in Burkina Faso have become the target of escalating DEADLY persecution in recent weeks...

  • On April 28 at a small Assemblies of God church in Sirgadji, five congregants and their 80-year old pastor were given the choice to deny Jesus and convert to Islam--or die. One by one they were mercilessly shot and killed for their faith by a gang of Islamic militants.
  • On May 12, gunmen on motorcycles stormed a Catholic church in Dablo during mass and brutally shot down the priest and six congregants trying to flee.
  • On May 13, gunmen killed four Catholics who were participating in a religious procession in the northern part of the country.

The rise in these ruthless attacks has triggered a state of panic in the region. Thousands have fled their homes seeking safety further south, and others have gone into hiding--afraid to sleep, gather for worship or even send their children to school.

As more churches and schools close each day, we are told it is becoming like a ghost town as the Christian presence is driven out of Burkina Faso.

Our partners on the ground in the region report, "In the last 12 months, the increasing violence across Mali and Niger, as well as Burkina Faso, has led to a five-fold rise in the displacement of the local population. More than 330,000 people have left their homes, in addition to 100,000 refugees--creating what some news outlets have called an "unexpected humanitarian crisis."

A church leader in Burkina Faso, who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons, emotionally shared the situation in his town; "No one dares to sleep in his house because of fear of being killed. It's very hard for us. We need your prayers."

They need our prayers, and our help.
